Good morning. The 4" waste pipe for a basement toilet has disintegrated below the mounting flange rendering it unusable. Can this product (or another one) be used as a splice to bridge to remove and replace the bad pipe, connecting new pipe to restore the flange. I had one full service plumbing company take a look at it and they wanted to remove the furnace, waterheater, three walls and dig up our complete finished basement floor to replace all the pipe to the city's sewer. There's got to be a better way!!!!

Since  this  product  does  not  provide  a full seal  all  the  way  around,  I would  not  reccomend  bridging  gaps  with it.

Temperature rating??

The temp rating for this product is based on the gasket. For typical buna gaskets the max temp is 212F and for high temp gaskets it goes up to 1200F.

can this be used on steel gas pipe?

Sure. Style 118 can be used for this application.
