Pipe Fittings are used to connect different apparatus, equipment and to change direction of flow in a piping system.

Pipe fittings are generally classified as "welded" or "pressure" fittings. Welded fittings are welded on to the piping system where as pressure fitting uses National Pipe Thread (NPT) to connect to the pipe.

Pressure fittings are NOT available in sizes larger than 4" NPS. Though they are more common up to 2" NPS. Pressure fittings are classified as 3000#, 6000# or 9000# (most common). They are available in forged steel, merchant steel and malleable iron.

Butt Weld fittings are available in hot formed (A234 WPB), High Yield Carbon Steel, Stainless and Nickel Alloys.
